Re: Help identifying a leak at bottom of engine
Looks like you have two leaks. The one that is the biggest concern is the bevel gear shown in the first and final two photos. You need to clean that off check your bevel gear fluid level and top off as necessary. Then monitor very closely and figure out where the fluid is seeping from. The oil shoul...

Re: V70 T5 Tranny Troubles
Brenda: Sorry to hear you are going backwards, but at least you are not spending money. It would be good to try and get the fluid level correct. Get a semi clear clean collection container, maybe an old 1 gallon washer fluid bottle (milk container), cut off the top so that you can position the openi...

Re: Intermittent immobilizer issue
Wow - tough one. I have nothing for you other than some ideas. I suppose one approach is to get a VOM out and start pulling fuses that are related to your problem. Also look for current draw once you single out any potential offending circuits. This can narrow down the offending parts. It sounds lik...

Re: Came here to research used ETM options - now I'm not so sure
When you say ETM are you referring to what some call the throttle body? Just want to make sure. Can you grab a mirror, if you don't already know, and see who makes the ETM on your Volvo. My 2001 V70 XC had a Magneti Marelli which go bad with age. See here for added info: http://www.ecutesting.com/vo...

Re: 2000 2.9l What to do? Sell or fix and keep forever.
Indeed a true testament to the Car's refusal to quit. It will enter Volvo folk lore. One thought for future ownership - for anyone looking at this thread. Used parts can be had for nothing. Recently I saw one poster using with great success discs and rotors. I wager you could have done your suspensi...

Re: 2001 V70 Strut Fitment
Need clarification. Did you install V70 awd struts or V70 XC awd struts? I pulled up some sites looking to see if there are any differences. I don't see a separate strut for the V70 fwd vs awd (or for a spring), but the control arm has a different part. Although for the XC variant things are differe...

Re: Am I screwed
Couple of questions? Did you put in a new or used CEM? If new it will need to have software installed. VIDA with a correct paid subscription can do this. Dealer or a Volvo repair facility with a VIDA subscription can also do this for a cost. RickHaleParker in his response lists the software that is ...

Re: 2001 V70 Strut Fitment
Look up the label part numbers on the old and new units and compare fitment.

Re: What kind of sealant for the cam cover?
I have used this on Volvos without issue (bevel gear, oil pan and cam covers): https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/BK_7651189 I have also used it on Audi, BMW, Subaru, Range Rover and VW. Make sure everything is clean and you should have no issues. It is the same stuff as abscate mentions - only in a Na...

Re: What kind of sealant for the cam cover?
Anaerobic sealant is used on finely machined surfaces to fill the slightest imperfections. It dries with the absence of air, so any extra that oozes out when torquing gets washed away over time. Thin is best - usually with the red stuff - slightly pink on the aluminum is sufficient. I like a foam ro...
