Re: 2000 V70 AWD 56 engine slow coolant leak

Is it leaving a puddle under the car, or is the coolant slowing leaving the reservoir with no external signs of leakage?

Re: 2000 V70 AWD 56 engine slow coolant leak

Yeah, I was going to note that too. Having it rise when warm/hot is normal. Is the system holding pressure, long after shutdown? Quick test in the morning before the first start, open the reservoir cap and see if it vents any pressure. It shouldn't have any if the system is fully cold. How long are ...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

I had the Volvo gods smiling down on me today when I pulled the exhaust cam to remove the broken bolt and to my surprise I twisted the broken end out with my fingers. Now to hit the salvage yards for some bolts because it's Sunday and tomorrow I'm off. I was going to surmise that was going to be th...

Re: 850 Bare Roof Rack/Bar Reccomendations?

You're going to have to Google "Thule Volvo 850" and find available towers and fit kits, etc via ebay or Amazon. Thule or Yakima don't make them any longer. Find a set of towers, and then search for the proper fit kit for them (I'm away from home, so I can't dig up the parts on our cars.) ...

Re: 850 Bare Roof Rack/Bar Reccomendations?

Look up Traverse or 400XT foot packs. (Ours are the 400xt) The fit kit for the 400xt is 161 Not sure about the Traverse. (They may not have done a Traverse one for the 850) These are square bar kits. Yakima Q-towers with Q51 clips is another option (round bars) Googling the 400xt and the 161 fit kit...

Re: 850 Sway bar bushing

The stock bushings are bonded to the bar. I've tried burning them off, but in the end, I cut them off and ground off the residual bushing material. We have poly bushings on both cars. The biggest issue we've run into is a "clunk" as the bar slides back and forth when the front suspension t...

Re: 850 Sway bar bushing

Having done this upgrade while undertaking other major work that involved removing the subframe, I don't think it's worth the effort to swap the bushings out on a stock sway bar just to do it. If you're upgrading the sway bar, do it then. Otherwise, unless the bar is rattling around in the stock bus...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

ARB bushings don't look great either, I'd add then to the to-do list. Unless the subframe is being dropped, it's not worth the effort to remove the bar just to wrestle with getting the old bushings off and new ones on. Especially for the stock bar. The bushings look bad, but it's more cosmetic, rea...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

Finally was able to find a good replacement fender for my wife's 97 GLT (bad paint on the topside).

As a bonus, the '00 XC70 that appeared on the yard the same day donated it's 21.5mm front sway bar.

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

Snagged a "new" dash and console for my T5. https://turbochuckcom.ipage.com/webimages/projects/97%20Volvo%20854T5/2021/Dash%20Swap/more%20parts.jpg Added bonus, found a 10mm socket while pulling parts. https://turbochuckcom.ipage.com/webimages/projects/97%20Volvo%20854T5/2021/Dash%20Swap/l...
