The Million Mile Volvo !
Hello there, This is a Volvo that was driven a million miles. It's a 1987 but thought this was a good place to post it. One thing i noticed is that the people who get very high mileage out of their cars usually do their own maintenance or at least most of it. Dont know the full story behind this car...

Just for reference, picture #1 is for a clock calendar but it could be used for the replacement also. Picture #2 is the board i would use for the chip and you can see the chip is so s...

Re: Fuel Pump Relay Replacement Prototype
Does the second photo show the pull rope for emergency starting? volvolugnutr Hi, Ha ha. Yes that is to make sure the ZIF socket does not get lost, again. It was about 10 bucks and i already lost one because it fell out of the regular socket underneath. I could not solder it in because the bo...

Re: Battery Voltage Profile Of An Engine Starting (1998 v70)
Where did you make connections for voltage? I have a mini O scope I may try this with. Volvolugnut Hello there, Directly across the battery terminals for best results, i went through the line +12v and signal ground connections on the OBDII connector. Better on the battery though. If you perform thi...

Re: 1997 850 won't accept fuel at the gas station.
Assuming you're not trying to fill a full tank, it's got to be a venting issue. I've had that happen on a GM work van. On the van the whole evap system was under the vehicle next to the tank, and the official word from GM was that "spiders" would nest in some hole and plug it up. I think ...

Re: Metal Accordion Pipe To Air Box 1998 v70 946841, 9438274
Ye it has no motor, it is just a thermostat pushing and pulling and I think there is a return spring in there. Been a while! Neil. Hi, Yeah on a more close examination, i found it is not even a thermostat it is a vacuum actuator that opens/closes the flap(s). There are two flaps, one opens the fron...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Little update on today's work.... Apparently the solar panel is working. It is the first time ever i saw the battery voltage climb up a little. Normally after the engine is turned off the voltage continuously falls, fast at first, then slower as time goes on. After about 24 hours it can drop to as ...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Hello again, Well here we are today, one day after installing the solar panel. Another thing though is the sun is still pretty bright out there today so it's not the best test yet. The best test will be on a gloomy overcast day with lots of cloud cover. So unfortunately even if it works very good t...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
I changed the distributor cap and rotor, along with the spark plug wires in the T5. There was a fair bit of corrosion and wear on the old set. The wires seemed to be stamped “12/04,” so it was probably time. 835E5986-DDE2-4A44-B5BB-1D63C63C01C7.jpeg 3DCDF472-4CC1-41E8-A3D7-75A0C5011D75.jpeg That lo...
