Re: 850R complete engine rebuild + some questions
The M56 is nicely complemented with a Quaife LSD. 350hp should not be a problem for a M56 with a R clutch. The one thing that is tricky though is the immobilizer for the 96 upward EU models (unless yours is an US import). The german speaking crowd usually reaches out to daniel2345 at volvopower.de f...

Re: Help me save Christmas! 98 V70 no start/rough start
As for the MAF: I think mine got worse from cleaning it. The Sometimes they just gel old an weird. Like most of us ;-) I personally think you should be running w/o the MAF for a few days. If it runs fine, that should do. The immobilizer might allow you to stsrt the car for a second or two, but then ...

Re: 850R complete engine rebuild + some questions
I never dug into standalone ECUs for my projects. I know people have been happy with Haltech and Megasquirt. But Volvospeed or Swedespeed are the better resources for these kinda projects than MVS.

Re: 850R complete engine rebuild + some questions
One more thing: whites or blues are good for 300 hp at least, but with a goal of 350 you might wann a think about greens. Lspeed in Germany has them for a reasonable price. When buying colored injectors, make sure to buy with the parts number (fcp or ipd list them nicely) because there are similarly...

Re: Head swap vs remanufacturing head on current car
That head swap with the one out of your other p80 sounds like a good idea. Down time is minimized, you save on parts and even if some valves were bad on your donor head you could use good ones out of your current head. sounds like a win win situation. Just make sure they are both VVT or non VVT (I t...

Re: 850R complete engine rebuild + some questions
I think these numbers Volvo people talk about are usually whp because alot of the engines never leave the car and just receive bolt on parts and a tune to increase the performance.

Re: 850 to sell
U.S market import. Fuel gauge in gallons, speedometer in miles, different style steering wheel and airbag, ecc in F,passenger side airbag in '95 (E.U market cars didn't had them untill '96)and no side blinkers on the fenders. As much as I hate to disagree with Misha, my 94 T5M and my 95 NA both have a...

Re: Help me save Christmas! 98 V70 no start/rough start
I can tell quite easily because this is the transponder key I have for my EU spec '96 R (EU spec Volvos got immobilizers in 1996, including the erratic kingdom which was part of of Europe back then). They needed to size up the key to make the transponder fit. It just won't fit inside of the old styl...

Re: 850R complete engine rebuild + some questions
There are other clutch options with Sachs clutches that require modificatuons of the flywheel, I'll try to find the link I received a while back. Alot of these high torque setupts are said to be no fun for a daily driver. As far as I understand (and that's why I chose a R clutch) the R clutch is as ...
