Re: clunking noise from brakes?

Just a comment - upper spring seats on struts can wear (or be cheap crud from the get-go) and cause a "thunk" that appears when braking with moderate to hard force AND when shifting from reverse to forward and visa-versa.

Re: oil mist on tailgate

Seems like if it's blowing out of your tailpipe, then either turbo, valves, or rings. But if you're having other issues with the turbo, then I'd lean that way. Compression test would tell you more.

Re: pcv delete

I kept the original separator box, and just ran the additional catch can in line. Yes, it vents to atmosphere instead of going into the turbo, intercooler etc. I'm not sure if you can use it with the stock hose kit. I don't think so. You'd have to pull the intake and replace the stock hoses with 5/8...

Re: pcv delete

You basically disconnect the large hose that goes from the stock separator down to the valve (PTC ) just before the turbo, and connect that hose to the can. Cap off the PTC. But that stock hose is apx 1/2" and winds it way around from under the intake and throttle body down to the PTC. You coul...

Right Hand Drive Throttle Cable

For those on the quest for or in need of a Right Hand Drive (RHD) throttle cable replacement for the 850, I have a solution that worked for me. Re: Exhaust manifold to catalytic converter nuts and studs rust welded

Just to add a side of fries to this excellent discussion on how to deal with hopeless levels of rust. The penetrating oil you want for tasks like this is called Kroil. It comes as a straight liquid, or as a straight aerosol, or as an aerosol that also deposits silicone lubricant after it evaporates....
