Re: 98 V70 T5 brake pedal sinks *SOLVED*

**UPDATE took a week to get parts/bubble flare kit so I could cut and flare the V70 hard brake line today. Bit of a PITA but went well and NO LEAKS! Many years ago I had to run new hard break lines front to rear on a rusty 4runner actuator line, I posted my "pro tip" on a Toyota forum site...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

The dipsticks can get chocolatey with bad seals but mostly with short runs and cold weather makes it worse as condensation forms in the engine and extremities as they cool, and if the engine does not run long enough the condensation does not get burnt off.

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

I read on the iPd website about dipsticks on P80 vehicles “sweating” due to a bad seal and causing a milky residue that can be mistaken for a head gasket leak. Are they worth it? I’m thinking of getting one for the Silver Bullet, which is parked in my parents’ driveway awaiting a new ETM. (I’d thou...

Re: Product update: Volvo Coolant Fan Temperature Switch - FAE 9186486

Updating thread for a Jan 2023 for Linnea Facet version $16 Volvo $60 The allure of the cheap price may well be the lack of testing the OE parts manufacturer does for Volvo to ensure quality. It’s a pretty critical engine part as it drives the cooling group cycle. Reposting jreed data on difference ...

Re: '99 V70 Base ETS lit

Junkyards, eBay, etc. Anywhere you can find used parts, really. I always try to grab the later (2013 or so) date code units from the yards, as those as the best solution IMO (as Abscate said).

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

Why not just buy new o-rings for the dipstick? Save you some moneys.

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

The revised dipstick/tubes for the P80's have 2 o-rings on them, but I think they are the same as those with singles. They just seal and hold the dipstick in place better. It doesn't take long for those o-rings and the cap seals to get "hard" and not seal well. I just swapped the one out o...

scot850 wrote: 04 Jan 2023, 14:08 I may be wrong, but I recall the P80 'double O-rings' are now NLA from Volvo. However, the P2 version has the same O'rings.

Part 30637865 live and kicking at FCP, for 1998- and P2, $5

The Rein one is probably fine m too , at $1

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

Those are ok. The rubber in the OE ones is incredibly good. I have one p80 that traverses the Islet of Langherhans with new hoses but I have learned to trust those OEs for 250-300k miles. A very conservative PM model would be replace at 150-200k miles but keep those old ones as UBG! No aftermarket r...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

It's hard to tell if that's corrosion or coolant residue on the pipes, but if it's coolant it may be time to replace. Otherwise, the OE hoses do last a really long time.
