I think the belt PN depends on the tensioner style. If you have a hydraulic tensioner, go ahead and order the older style kit.

Yeah , even Dr Brothers have their limitations. No crank is ignition switch, wiring , or clutch switch on the M56 Go find the remote starter bypass and confirm your battery , starter, and main cables are all sound Chock it, triple check in neutral, and parking brake firmly on when you use the bypass

Executive summary

If you have the straight water pipe, heads out to rear of engine, left side of car, you need part number 6842428 or equivalent

If your water pipe connection angles forward to front of car, you need part 9470409 or equivalent

Do a voltage drop test on each battery cable at each point , Bruno The cable do get crusty inside after 20 years, and can fail intermittently. Sounds like hot exhaust cooling. If you can get a laser thermometer check turbo temperature. You might not be leaving the engine idling long enough before shutting it off. June

I experimented with my car today. I had to run the engine 5000 rpm for several minutes then stop the car to get any ticking/ pinging at all and it was nowhere near as dramatic as your car. The heat coming off the top cam cover was intense. I couldn't find Mike's laser temp gun. I did restart my car ...
