Re: Difficulty Reinstalling The Power Steering Pressure Hose
I changed this hose on an '05 XC 90 and encountered the same problem on reinstallation despite taking a whole bunch of pictures. I recall undoing the return line from the rack to facilitate getting the pressure hose in place, I also dropped the rear subframe and simultaneously unbolted engine mounts...

Re: Bad Alternator?
I just had that problem in my '03. Test the alternator voltage at the B+ terminal on the back of the alternator, you can reach it with a multimeter probe. Should be 14 - 14.5. I would replace with an OEM unit either new or from an autowrecker depending on your budget. Don't buy an aftermarket part a...

Re: Difficulty Reinstalling The Power Steering Pressure Hose
Try rotating it, grab it by the passenger side and rotate it clockwise and counterclockwise, you shouldn't have to bend any of the aluminum line to get it in. I recall having a rough time till I rotated it. I hope you haven't put the other end in yet by the power steering pump, you have to do the ra...

Re: Proven method to remove an engine oil stain on a cement driveway
Spray Nine works well on oil stains on a polished concrete garage floor, I expect it would work on finished concrete like a driveway. Not sure if you can get Spray Nine in the states but it emulsifies grease and oil in about two minutes. Probably brakeclean would do the same thing, you have to rinse...

Re: V70R drivetrain clanking noise - front CV axles and LCA bushings already replaced
You should be able to get a good used one for less than $500. I've heard of people replacing the bearings and rebuilding the old ones but I'd suspect you may have some broken gear teeth or damage on that one. If you're looking for advise, I'd pull the propshaft, angle gear and leave the collar sleev...

Re: "Engine System Service Required" out on the road.
1. Turn ignition to position I 2. Press and hold in the reset button for the trip odometer 3. Turn the key to position II within 2 seconds, while continuing to press trip odometer reset button. 4. For all vehicles from the 2003 model year a general yellow lamp will light when the reset button must b...

Re: Brake Caliper Rebuild?
I would prefer to rebuild the callipers only if you can procure OEM Volvo brand parts, second choice would be to get a good used one from the auto wreckers, third choice would be to purchase new Volvo ones (expensive but worth it), and as a last resort option, get rebuilt ones with the expectation t...

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?
Put the Erinus wheels on with winter tires. I think the Tellus wheels look more appropriate for an '03 but I bought these with good winter tires for $300 and it looks better that black painted steel wheels.

Re: Changing Timing belt this week, any tips?
I know! I really wanted to concentrate on getting the timing marks lined up and getting the timing belt tensioner set up properly. After I did the "smoke test" and it ran fine I cracked open a beer while finishing the final assembly.
