As above, it's rather two bushing bearings. The top one is the one going bad, unfortunately it sits under the blower 'fan' part, mine was really stuck in rust and wouldn't come off the shaft in order to have access to the top bushing

Take it apart as far as you can. I managed to get one all the way down, another only half. Either way clean it as best you can, spray it with solvent. Then pack it with grease and you are good to go. As described above, the bearings are super old tech. Robust and servicable if not water damaged. Eve...

I think its an intermittent issue, as I said the first time I checked it with a voltmeter running it was only at 12 V ( battery voltage) so nothing coming from the alternator. I'll see what tomorrow brings and report back! Have you cleaned the battery terminals and the B+ wire connectors? It would ...

Just ordering some parts for my XC to include Timing belt kit and PCV kit etc. Went to clean off the engine serial number sticker so I could read it and used Brakleen to clean off the grease. The solvent took off the numbers and now I cannot read it! Can I find this number anywhere else? Thanks. i ...

leave the crank pulley and big nut alone, remove the front engine mount (two bolts) and torque mount and raise the engine, this will give you some extra room to do the water pump. Check the VVts for play, especially wobble at fully counter-clockwise is a common failure a volvo tech told me.
