P80 DIY: Oil Cooler Line Rebuild 3528201 3528207
The oil cooler lines on these cars are known for leaking where the rubber hose is crimped to the metal ends. Mine have been leaking for about 4 years, but it was a slow leak. Today I decided to repair them. The Volvo replacements are a steep $250 for the pair. There are aftermarket brands but the re...

Re: P80 esoterica thread
Maintenace and diagnosis is quite simple. Just change the pcv anytime there's a problem and it will magically go away. Ripped seats? change pcv. Suspension problems? just change the pcv. Rod knock? you guessed it, pcv.

Re: 97 855R suspension: to renew nivomat or not?
I don't think there is any difference in the spring mounting. You can replace the spring perch or bump stop since it's likely worn out, but I don't think there's anything that NEEDS to be replaced. Take a look at this thread: http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/topic/167617-delete-your-nivomat-rear-end-8...

You need new upper shock mounts, and you need "reinforced" springs. Nivos use a reinforced shock mount that won't work with other stuff. If the Nivos are shot, be prepared for the car to ride a little higher on the "regular" springs than where the old Nivos would have kept it. Yo...

Re: 97 855R suspension: to renew nivomat or not?
There are different Nivomats for different springs and I'm pretty sure they are different between wagons and sedans. That said, I scored a pair for the XC off of a S70 AWD model at the U Pull lot for about $7.00 each. Bolted them on and they worked fine. The PO had put a set of Bilstien TCs on the r...

Re: LED code reader/ECC help
Sorry to hear you're having trouble getting the codes to read. What is the resistance value of resistor you're using? Which pins are you plugging the code reader into? I got good results with the circuit shown below, plugging the switch between pins 5 (GND) and 6 (ECC) and the positive side of the L...

Re: LED code reader/ECC help
Last year 850s with M4.4 still use flash codes for ECC ONLY.
Everything is fully OBD II except ECC.
So...flash code reader will work on ECC.
S,v70 from '97 (transitional year from 850 to S,V70)got fully OBDII ECC and Volvo Scan tool is required for diagnostics.
