This is all so true. I've seen the phrase, "You can't outrun the fork" meaning that if you don't change your diet, you can exercise until you're purple and not make much difference.

They're just such crazy complicated fascinating machines. Look at that second photo. Look at the big counterweights on the huge drive wheels. I wonder what one of those wheels weighs....
