Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?

Garden duty. Cutting front yard bushes and moving them to back yard. RWD free diff garden tractor was too small for the task, Toyota Tundra - too big. AWD Volvo was just right.

Re: Haldex Oil Pump Replacement

Do any of you have any info on previous maintenance of the pumps? Was it neglect or just time that did it in? Doesn't really matter. It runs all the time, brushes wear out. Its life span is about 10-12 years, less in cold climate (cold as in 40 below), due to rubber seal being compromised and oil f...

Intro and how my 240 GL saved my life

Greetings. My name is Thom, I live in upstate NY, and I'm driving Volvos for the rest of my life. I've owned 2 240 GL wagons, 2 240 GL sedans, a 780 (non-turbo). I currently drive an '04 V70R (12 years now), and a 2012 XC90 Platinum (hard to believe they're on the same P2 chassis). On December 8th, ...

Re: What is your next car?

dikidera wrote: 25 Jan 2024, 03:20 What do you mean by something goes wrong?
Anything, anything at all that goes wrong on cars. I don't advocate to my friends anything now. I used to (tech, cars) but I felt preachy after a while.

If they solicit my thoughts, I will but with plenty of disclaimers.

Re: My time in England (contains car talk... barely)

Those pics of the area are nice but they all have this ... smudge? ... toward the lower left corner; something's awry can't put my finger on it.

Re: My time in England (contains car talk... barely)

This reminds me: I asked my dad a few weeks ago about the Simca. The second car (first being a brown Toyota Celica) we owned in Belgium was a Simca -- almost certainly a 1301 -- which my dad had shipped from England, where it was my family's only car. I had always thought he bought that in Belgium a...

Soon you graduate to buying the part, putting it in the shelf, and doing the same.

Re: P80 P2 Subframe Bushing installation with pictures 3507923

Special bushing press.jpg I used the washer from the first bushing and turned it upside down and glued some top strut nuts on it to make an installation tool and a bushing bolt to fully seat the bushing. This was necessary so that the force is distributed on the plastic frame of the bushing, not th...
