Report on dash mount repair

Hi Folks, Here's a report on how I repaired my dash. I acquired a 1999 s70 with 110K on it back in late 2016. This was my first Volvo and although the car was in generally good shape, the dash did rattle a bit. At that point I had no idea where that dash rattle would eventually lead. After two lout ...

Re: What non-Volvo wheels fit?

Ok, I knew this would happen. As soon as I posted the above post, I found a site that does what I want. https://www.wheel-size.com/ They do have a search by wheel size functionality. When I do search on 6.0 (or 6.5) x15 with a 43 mm offset (plus or minus a few mm) and the proper bore size, I do find...

Re: That rattling is driving me nuts ...

If you want to see a different option for dash mount repairs, take a look at what I did back in July of 2017. https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=81991&p=444318#p444318 My dash is still quite and quite solid. My method does require a couple of days to let the the ABS...

Re: Trying to source Dust boots

Are you asking about replacing a torn rubber mini-boot on the control arm? Like the rubber boot shown here? control-arm-end2.png I looked here and the boot itself isn't listed as a separate product. http://volvopartslisle.com/assembly/24625093/Front-Wheel-Suspension That's for a 2000 s70 . But if yo...

Re: Report on dash mount repair

Racer4200, The reason you have remove more than the dashpad is you can't get to the broken mounts unless you pull the main dash out. The rear part of the dash kinda disappears under the windshield which hides the mounts themselves. Pulling the full dash is involved and time consuming. I wouldn't cla...

Subframe bushing tool

Hi Folks, Due to a minor accident mentioned in another thread, I found myself replacing the subframe in my 1999 s70. I found a lot of examples and suggestions on how to push in the new bushings. Below is the tool I made. I hope this helps someone in the future if he/she decides to tackle this job. I...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today? (now Sticky!!)

Did it work for you? I got the aftermarket equivalent https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo-interior-door-light-s70-v70-c70-9151343-1 but it still left far too much of a gap to provide any pressure. I tried clear silicone to hold them in place, to no avail. Brunocerous, That is the exact part I us...

Re: Motul oil doesn't burn

I'll look today, I don't recall what the stock is. Update - its labelled as ACEA A3 A4 - I don't know what that means ACEA is a European rating system. https://www.oilspecifications.org/acea.php Note: A4 isn't mentioned on the link above but it is apparently related to direct injection gas engines....

Re: Motul oil doesn't burn

Didn't even know those grates existed. Do they just reduced splashing? I assume it is to prevent debris from falling in the engine? I would rather it was not there so I could see inside the engine better. Hopefully one of you Volvo technicians out there can shed a light on this? June My initial tho...

Re: '99 S70 Right Front Engine Mount Variations?

The motor mount did indeed change somewhere in the s70 timeline. see my experience here: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=85673 short story: you need 9480189 if your chassis is AFTER 566268 Note. it is not specific to the T5. Mine is a non-turbo but has chassis number...
