Re: 1998 V70 inner tie rods
Once again - many thanks for your response. One other question. Does it normally need a lot of effort to loosen the inner tie rod - I have read some others methods of doing this job and they don't seem to bother holding the steering rack at all. I have only done this job once so my sample size is 1...

Re: Can someone tell me what this line and filter? Is?
On the filter, I suspect that if you twist it and look the full part number is 9186744. If so it's a "carbon filter with fittings 4VALVE Cars with emission code 3, see product plate. For cars with emission code 4, see product sign. " or "Volvo GENUINE VOLVO Vapor Canister Filter"...

Re: exciting afternoon with Bees
Hey June, If you wanted to start taking care of bees, you'd set up your own hive. That would entail getting some dedicated boxes and frames. Boxes = a wood box Frames = wood frames where the bees build their honey comb. These boxes and frames are analogous to a file cabinet (what I am calling the bo...

Re: Pcv, breather box help
This orifice goes to your block right? What the block entrance also plugged up or did the goo only appear in that location after you took the box off, moved it, and let it sit for a bit? I'm asking because from that picture, it woud look like your block entrance where the breather box drains was als...

Re: Pcv, breather box help
When I got my s70 a few years ago at about 110K, the PCV failed the glove test. When I took mine off, it looked like the below picture (not my car). Not as bad as the below picture in terms of % clogged. However the below picture does give a good representation of the type of debris I found waiting ...

Re: Since we're talking about Air Conditioning shims with bread clips and wire ties....
Mine lasted two years. When I took a look, the bread clips were gone. Instead of moving to the zip tie method (which should hold nicely), I just took clutch plate off and replaced shims inside clutch. That as last year. Haven't even tried things this year to see if the AC works.. Just driving so lit...

Re: Since we're talking about Air Conditioning shims with bread clips and wire ties....
Fair enough. So, I might be good for a couple more years (I'm in North Carolina and its been in the 80's the past few days - brutal days are ahead, temperature-wise). Seems to be holding for now, nice and cool. I figured (maybe incorrectly?) that in order to replace the clutch plate that I would ha...

Re: Since we're talking about Air Conditioning shims with bread clips and wire ties....
I'm curious, how did you fabricate a puller? I have some thoughts, but any insight into that would be appreciated for future reference. Thanks! Jonboy I followed this guide. https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/downloads/Volvo-850-S70-V70-AC-Fix.pdf This happened to fit my style of AC compressor clutc...

Re: Hole in my valve cover (not PCV) and oil leak
I am having trouble finding a good clear picture of that hole on a cam cover in its good working condition. For example here is is on a (presumably good) engine but we can't see it close up. hole.png I suspect, and I can't confirm this, that it's supposed to have some plug in there to prevent oil fr...

Re: Hit curb and CV axle broken. Time to junk it?
btw. to redo the rivets. 1) use a large enough drill bit and drill off head. rivet pops out. sometimes they spin which then becomes a challenge but not a big deal. 2) get new proper plastic coated riviets from idpusa and pop back in. Assuming of course your fender liner still has the holes intact. ...
