If they are 1.5" off on each side, there HAS to be a problem.
A 3" narrower track width in the front end would look obvious.

By "shorter" you mean the original 'reaches out' more?
The mounting points (rear stud and forward cylindrical bushing) are the same, yes?
I'll bet they sent you a control arm from a non-XC model.
