Re: PCV R&R - Losing the battle to the dreaded hidden Intake bolt

Glenn - I purchased a Snap-on version of the same instead because it appeared to have better overall dimensions for fitting into the space. It won’t show up until Monday but I’ll report back once I try it.

Re: PCV R&R - Losing the battle to the dreaded hidden Intake bolt

A little trick... - By the time: - The UPPER bolts are removed. - The 2 LOWER bolts are loosened a few turns (do NOT remove these as already mentioned). - Pull the I.M. toward you a bit, then rotate the I.M. CCW a bit. This will loosen the last 10-mm bolt a bit, just enough so you won't strip the bo...

Re: Should I do the water pump while at it ?

Most people here will tell you to replace the TB, idler and tensioner pulley.
The WP can be replaced at 180K.

Re: Should I do the water pump while at it ?

The water pumps generally do have a pretty long lifespan. I just replaced an original one on a car with 262k miles, clean, dry (no evidence of weep hole leak) & the bearing still felt great. Very easy to do, find the nipple (protrudes off of a hard coolant line) on the rear of the engine, above ...

Re: Should I do the water pump while at it ?

Costing less than $100 I installed the Aisin WP when I did the timing belt kit at 123k miles. I'll leave the WP alone when I do the belt kit again at 223k miles.

Re: Should I do the water pump while at it ?

Water pumps will make noises and/or leak before they fail 99% of the time. Here is the problem - some people have lost their engines due ...

Re: Should I do the water pump while at it ?

Recommend the Contitech belt kit while there. Are you sure you 2006 is non turbo ? Remember the non turbo engine being discontinued around 2005 ?

Re: Should I do the water pump while at it ?

I apply my formula as follows My labor is 25 an hour,so 4 hours for the pump costs me 100 later on if I need to do it, It’s highly likely that pump will last to the next timing belt cycle in which case the labor is free. Here’s one last tipping point agaisntvreplacement. ..it’s posdible once in a wh...
