Re: Strut question ?

You're around 100k I believe. Like Steve said, I'd leave them be. Only time I'd think of replacing is if I had wheel hop or oil/debris caking. Our 04 XC still rides on it's original's, dry as a nun's bush & smooth/quiet as can be. I've replaced seats several times & a couple coil springs on...

Re: Strut question ?

Our 04 XC front is Sachs. That's a good point, taking hits/bumps pretty hard - I'd say that the XC's are definitely not as abusive on shocks as say the V70's, due to cushier damping. Rears are pretty obvious if they are not providing damping anymore. Wheels tend to hop after hitting bumps. Our V70R ...

Re: Question about IPD control arms?

I have both of them from IPD at over 2000 miles. There's really not much to them, but they claim to have more virgin rubber on the arms and a better grease and silicone boot; both an upgrade to OE especially up north. They also told me their parts are backed by lifetime warranty as well, but I haven...

Re: Question about IPD control arms?

I was faced with the same dilemma 8+ years and around 90K miles ago. l went with IPD controls arms and end links. The control arms held up well but one bushing was very slightly torn, so I pressed in new bushings before inspection at 220K miles. IPD’s endlinks are very difficult to counter hold so I...

Re: Question about IPD control arms?

I apologize as I don't have much for miles on them, but recently did Meyle HD control arms (Turkish), Meyle ball joints (Turkish) from FCP on the V70R. I think it was about $225 for arms & $40 for ball joints. I don't mind doing the manual labor part, rather enjoy it honestly. So figured with li...

Re: '06 Volvo V70 Coolant flush question

I don't think that will give you a 50/50 mix. Rather mix the gallon of concentrate with a gallon of distilled water, and refill with this in the last step. I have to say, the manual talks about 7.5 liters, however you may find you can only refill with something like 5 liters. Assume 1L is stuck insi...

Re: '06 Volvo V70 Coolant flush question

Glenn, I idle the car with the drain open, and water from a hose running into the reservoir, for 15 minutes. Don’t leave the car unattended during this in case the hose pops out Shut off motor, pull hose, pour your 8 liters/ 2 gallons distilled in to flush, let drain Close drain cock Add 4 litersgall...

The ultimate , money, no ambiguity photo of P2 pulley timing mark crankshaft alignment by Ozark Lee, by his Agent cn90

Each time you view this, you owe cn90 $1 , Canadian and also ozarklee $1 US

Remember these marks are NOT top dead center but the clearance position, that is, all pistons low in cylinders below the extended valve train

( added ozark lee , original photo , to the money list!)

Replacing REAR subframe trailing arm bushings

One thing that’s always bothered me about P2’s is how the arse end of these cars reminds me rather vividly of a “sulky”. As in, the little trailer that is towed behind a walk-behind zero-turn mower - the operator stands on it whilst operating said ZT mower. I’ve replaced quite a few parts trying to ...

Re: V70 wheel and tire size

If you want to roll up you can try my 2005 on 15s

I have my 16 Perfos off for winter too, if you really want to try them out, too.
