Re: Timing belt replacement 2007 v70
If you consider keeping the car for another few years, it is the time to replace it. The reason is the age of the car, not the miles. I'd recommend buying online (Fcp, Ipd) a Continental kit for the belt, but without the water pump which lasts 200000 miles on this engine. May as well inspect the ser...

Re: Timing belt replacement 2007 v70
I just replaced my TB with 12 years and 110K on it. Info below: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=83521 Since your car is 2007 V70 with 80K, I'd wait until 12-13 years and 100K to do the TB (see link above for detail where to buy parts). The WP can wait until 180K mil...

Re: Timing belt replacement 2007 v70
Depending on your Vin, some Volvos are 15 year/150k mile TB replacements.
You should replace in the next year or so, no rush

Re: Timing belt replacement 2007 v70
Your belt is old - it is not just about miles. The best thing to do is to take off the timing belt inspection cover and look at the condition of the belt. It is two tabs and two torx bolts (takes longer to find the tools and pull the hood up) - if you cannot do it bring it to a mechanic and have the...

Re: Timing belt replacement 2007 v70
It will destroy the engine enough that it's probably not worth repairing the car. The normal interval for your year is 10 years or 180' km over here. In your case time. Will be the deciding factor. Personally I'd change it, it's not expensive enough to risk the engine over. Pretty much every other p...

Re: Timing belt replacement 2007 v70
Thanks to all for the advice above. I think I will ask my mechanic to inspect the belt. I previously broke timing belts in a Volvo 240 and a Mazda 929. The engine designs were such that no damage was done, so it was mainly a matter of getting a tow and losing use of car for awhile. Will a broken be...

Re: Timing belt replacement 2007 v70
If it's a good synthetic (Mobil 1, Castrol Edge) along with a good filter brand (Mann, Mahle, OEQ) I would be very fine with it changed every year which I actually do, or about 7000 miles. Even then, when the engine is clean inside and everything runs spot on, the oil doesn't even get dark in that i...

Re: 2007 low mileage oil change interval
I wonder if I could ask another question, though not related. Retirement for me has lead to a sharp drop in my driving-now about 3000-4000 miles per year. So it takes 2.5 to 3 years to get to an oil change interval of 10000 miles. What should determine the frequency of oil changes-mileage or time? ...

Re: Timing belt replacement 2007 v70, low mileage oil change interval
You really do want to spin your motor up on occasion , it helps rotate the valves and keep them seated well. I might do 5 minutes if 4000 rpm on the highway tin NJ because my T5 lives between2000-2500 for most of its life, even less now that I’m older. Volvo valve train is very strong though, so the...
