94 850 dash disassembly
I had my heater motor replaced in another state and when I returned home I noticed that the odometer and trip odometer did not work. Did they possibly pull out a wire in my dash behind the odometer? Is there an easy way to check? Is there an easy way to get the dash appart? Help? Walt

Go to volvospeed.com.
Click on Repairs/Maintenance, Bay 13, Trim, 850 Instrument Cluster Removal.
Everything goes through one big plug on the back of the dash, so that is not likely the trouble.
Usually it is a broken gear in the odometer that is the problem, especially on an 850 that age. There are repair instructions in the saved threads at the top of the VS message board.
By the way, if it turns out to be that, I replaced my own and saved $400 over the dealer repair. My cost.... $26 + 4hrs.

The Haynes directions were also right on, for the dash removal. To pull the instrument cluster, however, you do not need to take off the entire dash top (and airbag, etc), just all the drivers' side screws.
