Performanced Reduced error message

Post by Supadmc »

I am experiencing a performanced reduced error message and and everytime the message comes up my engine loses power and the car acts like it wants to stall. If I turn off the car and wait for a few minutes and reset the message box then the problem seems to be solved for the time being until it happens again. It has happened a total of three times in about a month. I took the car to my mechanic in San Antonio and they ran a diagonostic check on the computer and the said that nothing was wrong with the car. The PERFORMANCED REDUCED error message is nowhere to be found in the owners manual. Could anyone give me some answers to the question and advice on what I need to do next?

Have a 2001 S60 2.4T (82K) ...... Just had this message occur for the first time this past weekend .... dealer stated they found the throttle was dirty. According to them the throttle module is covered by an extended warranty from Volvo and they replaced it at no charge to me. A subsequent ECM software upgrade was recommended such that it would play nicer with the new throttle module.
