Yup, and it's sometimes helpful to change the opposing bulb at the same time with the same make/model of bulb--unbalanced loads is what triggers that message.

I recently solved this same problem on my 2001 S60. There are four parking lights on the back of my car (two left/two right). I had to replace all four of them to make the message go away.

The bulbs cost me $11 from Advance Auto Parts and it took me five minutes to replace them.

I went crazy looking for a blown bulb, found this site, lifted the tailgate of my V70 2006 and discovered that one license plate bulb was out. I gave it a smash and all is well. What a GREAT SITE ! Thanks to all.

PEOPLE!! if you have to "bump" your car to get the lights to work it is a connection or ground issue.
First thing to try is get some GOOD electrical contact cleaner and spray it on your sockets. next get some good dielectric grease, with a q-tip put some on your new bulb end before you insert it into the socket.
GEEZUZ in a handbasket!!
One question I have for the original poster- have you checked the lower rear bulbs on your bumper?? This is one EVERYONE misses and probably is the culprit of your issues.

To help solve the "Slap" fix, use Dielectric grease when installing new lights. My XC90 was horrible at throwing warning messages about bulbs being out, especially after coming back from the car wash. I found that moisture was getting into the connections and burning the bulb and/or fuse. Using the dielectric grease solved the problem.

On my 2007 XC90 I lifted the tailgate to slam it shut (as suggested by others) and noticed that one of the two lights above the license plate was burned out.

Not always true. I recently posted that my license lamp would go out and I smacked the holder and it would turn back on.
It ended up being a loose filament connection in the bulb itself. Once it turned on and heated up and expanded the metal a microscopic amount it stayed on. This was 100% repeatable. I cleaned the socket and everything. The only fix was changing the bulb. New bulb fixed the problem.

Just because I was stumped I put the suspicious bulb in my other S60 and the problem followed the bulb into a different socket on a differnt car.

Defintely was a bad bulb.

So, its not always a bad ground.
