Last weekend I got the water pump + timing belt done. It was not as straight forward as I was hoping (things would not come off etc). Even when I went to put the belt back on, the cam sprockets moved. As far as my understanding ...

Ah yeah I should've been more clear here.

The timing belt is definitely still on, I have not even started removing that yet.

I turned the crank counter clockwise as well...but I understand that if the belt is still on (which in my case it is), then it should be fine.

Okay, I’m done for the day. Aborted the timing belt for today until I get the above cleared up.

Basically what happened was that I couldn’t get the last bolt off the harmonic balancer because it was obscured, and I resorted to trying to use a wrench which turned the crank. I then without thinking ...

Do I need to do the 90 degrees VVT thing again, or just rotate and align like normal

Also if I do accidentally rotate the sprockets can I just rotate the crank and line it up again or does the job now become complicated?

Legend Twarr. Appreciate the quick reply. The timing is now all done, except I accidentally rotated the sprockets a tiny little bit (think 2mm off centre), then rotated it back while taking off the crank. Is this a problem?

I’m working on it now and I’m stuck here. There are two markings that I can see on the sprockets, an M and a white mark. Which could it be?

Thanks for that Abscate. Yeah I’ve got everything ready to finally tackle the job later this week. I’ve even made myself an instruction manual with all the reading I’ve done so far.
