I've got a 1990 740 with the B230F and after a cold start the revs stay a bit too low on idle. Something like 500rpm. If I pump the brakes the revs get up to where they are supposed to. When I stop the pumping the revs go back down.
Any ideas what could be causing this?

Re: 740 1990 starts and shuts down
No it does not run fine. It barely stays idling with the coolant temperature sensor or MAF unplugged and if I touch the gas pedal it stalls immediately.

Re: 740 1990 starts and shuts down
I just changed the FPR. Didn't help.
I also tried unplugging the coolant temperature sensor. I can get it running just as I could when unplugging the MAF. Although the outside temperature is about 24c and not around 15.

740 1990 starts and shuts down
Hi, I just got my hands on a mint condition 740. It's got B230F LH2.4 and I can't figure out what's bugging it. It starts up fine but won't stay running. Just bogs down immediately when the revs come down to idle. Here's a small video of me trying to start it: https://www.dropbox.com/s/8p7qo8nrnz5qx...

240 differential pinion bearing
I suspect my pinion bearing on the diff (where the driveshaft enters) is faulty. I get a lot of howling on the highway and at speeds from 50km/h up. Especially on light throttle. When I lift off or accelerate it kinda quiets down a bit. Any instructions on how to replace it? Do I have to pull the wh...
