Looking at the state of the pin, it doesn't look very healthy, and appears to have a slight bend on it already? Having played with the mechanism, the only time that pin is touched, is when the motor actuator turns in the unlock direction. I've got the old one to come out, so will have a play with it...

The broken red pin just stops the motor being able to turn and unlock the mechanism, the problem with the resistor inside the motor, discussed earlier in the thread, stops the motor having the power to turn the mechanism to unlock it.
