Re: Timing belt walking off pulleys after resetting timing marks and tensioner

Oragex, it is off the pulley by like 1/8 in. And that is directly after startup. The steel which hangs on the ridge of the motor is bent and has been from the the moment I tensioned it the the first time weeks ago. Can a bad tensioner cause the belt to move that much? Could I have damaged the tensio...

Timing belt walking off pulleys after resetting timing marks and tensioner

Having issues after adjustment of timing marks. 02 xc70 There are no symptoms of anything wrong, car starts on 1st crank now, whereas before I was getting CEL. So now, the belt is moving off the pulleys, off all the pulleys. There is no wobble in my vvt, and I've set the tension already 10 times at ...

I get it, thanks! Will return with the results. I just hope the worst case scenario is I get an engine code and not a bent valve

Ok, should the sprocket end up in the forwarded or retarded position before putting on belt?

And when putting on belt, the cam should stay fully ccw?

Fully CCW as in when turn the cam 8 degrees CW the mark would be about 5 min past ?

Still, how can I perform the reloading?

Re: 2002 V70 Timing from scratch , adjusting VVT Topic is solved

All of that would be great in my situation, but, again, understand that the belt is off!! I must align my crank, and both cams without the belt, meaning I cannot reload my cams using the method presented. How does one reload the vvt cam in my situation , with belt off and having landed on my mark tur...

Re: What is the "reset" procedure for timing the CVVT hub

I'm having a beginner's trial here with my 2002 v70. I did not make sure that the crank mark was on the money before removing the belt. I want to just ask one question, that's WHY is it so important that the crank lands on the oil pump mark going clockwise? What is the risk if I get close going CW a...

Re: 2002 V70 Timing from scratch , adjusting VVT Topic is solved

It's not sprung. But I'm losing what you're saying. What do you mean about two teeth? And I m having to really put leverage on it going either way. So if I go past it , I have to go back. That's my question about CCW vs. CW. Are you talking about the reloading going CCW? And if I DO reload, it would...

Re: 2002 V70 Timing from scratch , adjusting VVT Topic is solved

That's great, takes more worry out if my mind. So then, with that tight ,and my marks on the cams and crank are good then I'm good to install belt? When installing, should I forward the vvt cam clockwise, going the 8° of play until it stops, then in stall belt, without it falling back to retarded po...
