Re: Timing Chain or VVT noise

I think the noise is coming from the water pump. I’m gunna remove belt and start the engine to isolate.

New chain, tensioner, guides, and vvt sprockets…. Noise still there, at idle sounds like a jar of marbles clanking somewhere…. Search continues

Timing Chain or VVT noise

285K mile 3.2L 2011 XC90.

I'm getting some slight rattle noise in the timing assembly. It's not READ.

I'm doing a complete timing chain, guide, tensioner, ect rebuild.

My question to the group: FCP rebuild kit doesn't mention replacing both cam VVT gears. Does anyone have any experience with ...

Re: high miles 2011 xc90 3.2L rich/lean

Update: I've finally fixed it. The initial 2 upstteam lambda sensors (A/F) sensors I put in, came in Toyota boxes... but had the correct Denso part number on them. I put 2 new upstream A/F sensors on it from FCP euro, and it fixed all my problems. All indications, including Denso website, say they ...

Re: high miles 2011 xc90 3.2L rich/lean

Put on 4 new denso oxy sensors, ….again. Only code now is p0430. Bank 2 cat. Still smells rich…
Long/short trims all normal around 3-5%…

2 new aftermarket cats installed.

Bank 2 upstream voltage is steady at .95-.99 volts, and bank 2 downstream cycles up and down from .3V to .7V.

stubbornly ...

Re: high miles 2011 xc90 3.2L rich/lean

Can anyone with 100% certainty say the downstream O2 sensors have no effect whatsoever on DME fueling and trims? I’m not an expert on the code. I think they only monitor cat health and nothing more…

DENSO downstream sensors on some p2 platforms do influence fuel trim , current thread in the ...

Re: high miles 2011 xc90 3.2L rich/lean

My strategy or aftermarket parts and fomoco parts has gotten a 3.2L to 278k miles, so I’m happy with my strategy. If you try and get that many miles on a xc90 with dealer and OEM parts, you would have more money in the car than it’s worth. Remember this things worth about 3k on a good day….
