Re: Weird P1651 code today
Thanks for your reply. It happened twice on the drive from Wyoming to NH and both times I was trying to resume with the cruise control. It had never happened before but I have noticed flakiness with the cruise control in the past where it would not hold the set speed and shut off. That was about a y...

Re: Weird P1651 code today
I got this code today driving on the highway with cruise control engaged in my XC90. The Reduced Engine Performance warning came on so I pulled over, shut down the engine and restarted it. This was the only code. I am starting my investigation and only read the codes with a cheap scan tool. I will a...

Re: 2004 XC90 - Broken Turbo Exhaust Studs to Cat
Trying to work to drill out the threads in place is not going well and I am planning on pulling out the turbo. I have the instructions from Volvo which say to remove the drive shaft and the bevel gear which I would rather not do. Are there any good instructions on the removal of the turbo from a 2.5...

2004 XC90 - Broken Turbo Exhaust Studs to Cat
2004 xc90 with the 2.5 motor. Fixing an exhaust leak where the turbo and cat meet (installing a new gasket), I broke two of the studs joining the two pieces. Both studs broke inside the threaded hole on the turbo. My plan is to drill out the studs in place and install a thread repair kit. I'll first...

Re: 2004 XC90 2.5 AWD - Polarity Reversed
Thank you for the replies. Turns out it was the battery. I charged the battery and checked it out under load. All looked fine. Brought it into the shop and it was dead. With a new battery, the interior lights came on and the car started. So far, I have not noticed any damage.

2004 XC90 2.5 AWD - Polarity Reversed
Hello XC90 was jump started and polarity reversed for one second. Now the entire electrical system is dead. No interior lights. Nothing when the key is turned. Battery has a full charge. I have checked continuity to fuse boxes and all seems OK. I have checked the relays and they seem to be OK as wel...

Re: 2004 XC90 Timing Belt - 2.5
Thanks. you are correct, the timing isn't off. I needed to keep rotating the to get the marks to align.
Do you think the P0011 might be caused by the idler pulley? Hopeful that with better components, that code goes away.

Re: 2004 XC90 Timing Belt - 2.5
I ordered a contitech belt and asin water pump. While I was waiting for the new parts to come in, the car threw code P0011 and when I check the timing, it is now off by about 10 teeth on the upper cams when the crankshaft is at tdc. The timing was all aligned last time I had the timing belt off. Wha...

Re: 2004 XC90 Timing Belt - 2.5
Thanks for your post. Your comments about the quality make sense. I replaced the water pump, idler pulley, etc and it was a Dayco kit. I followed the manual and tightened the idler pulley to 20 Nm / 15 ft lbs. I'll continue to monitor it and will consider replacing with a premium timing belt kit.

2004 XC90 Timing Belt - 2.5
Hello I replaced the timing belt on my 04 XC90 (2.5L) 5000 miles ago. When I removed the original timing belt, the belt was perfectly aligned on the outside of the cogs with about a 1/4" between the belt and the engine. When I replaced the belt, I tried to line it up along the edge of the cogs ...
