Re: I guess I’m going to call him “Leo”

Morning,

So, the A/C still works and blows cold. I did disconnect it and open it to air doing some repairs, but I got ahold of some cans of R12, pulled a vacuum and recharged it. The electrical is negative ground, updated w/ a standard GM 65amp alternator. Old Leo is a blast to drive and kinda ...

Re: I guess I’m going to call him “Leo”

Hi,

Sorry, I’ve been lazy about posting updates. Leo had been running great until spring hit, when a rattling/ticking sound started. I was hoping for just another valve adjustment, but it was more than that. As I investigated, it came down to the fact that I needed to get a look at the Cam shaft. I ...

Headliners are difficult! That looks good!

Thanks! It wasn’t too bad. The hardest part was getting it started and positioning the bows. Once that was done, it went pretty smooth. Mind you, I wasn’t shooting for perfection and getting every single wrinkle out. I’ve learned with this car I have ...

Re: I guess I’m going to call him “Leo”

I took Leo to the Richmond Antique Auto show the other weekend. I did the cruise-in show field, non-judged. A lot of people stopped by to check him out and talk. I replaced the headliner and windlace before the show and I re-enabled the AC system yesterday. I had to cut the lines to the condenser ...

Re: I guess I’m going to call him “Leo”

Well I installed the rear windshield this past week or so. I removed the old one, cleaned and treat some minor rust, sanded and painted the rear section of the silver panels. I didn’t need to phone a friend for the install. The windshield seal seated over the body lip easily. I used a couple of big ...

Re: I guess I’m going to call him “Leo”

Leaking windshield seals is a rite of passage with Amazons. Hopefully you managed to get them good an tight!

Neil.

I actually did not seal it to the body yet b/c I am going to paint at some point. I never drive old Leo in the rain. I want to pop it out cleanly when I’m ready. I had it in and ...

Re: I guess I’m going to call him “Leo”

Rattlecan Rustoleum for the win !
Old Leo was onto something there.
I was always pretty impressed with how solid the floor pans were. Glad you're having a good time with it.

Hahahaha. Yeah, that old paint job has grown on me. I forgot to mention that I put a new windshield in w/ seal and trim ...

Thanks, those are the original seats re-dyed. The wheels are 15x7’s with 195/60R-15 tires. I think they worked out great. Absolutely no rubbing. I leaned to the conservative side.

Re: I guess I’m going to call him “Leo”

I installed the M41 three weeks ago and installed a new dash amongst a bunch of small things. The trans is shifting great and the J Type OD is kicking in and out smooth. I took old Leo to the Richmond VA Swedes (RVASwedes) car show today and he got awarded the Fan Favorite award and tied for best ...

Re: I guess I’m going to call him “Leo”

Wow that is one heck of a lot of work, but it is all really worth all that effort!

The O/D 4 speed is a great option to have. Makes it much nicer to run on the highway and improves the mileage greatly. The manual transmission is fairly simple so even I was able to strip and rebuild one!

Thanks ...
