Oh— and I did the “lawnmower” start procedure or putting the capful of oil in each chamber. Nothing.

For over a month, my 850 won’t start. Ran fine one day, next day it didn’t.
Here’s what I’ve done:

1. Fuel pressure 45 at the rail.
2 compression good; 200 each cylinder
3. Hooked up a light tester on new spark plugs: good pulse
4. New timing belt has only about two thousand miles
5. MAF unplugged ...

Battery is getting low and it’s like my starter is sometimes disengaging when I’m still holding the key in the crank position. Resets if I reset the key position. Don’t know if that’s a low battery issue, starter issue, ignition ...

Update— starting week three with no start. Tested and completed:

Spark, including new plugs
Injector pulse
Fuel pump primes
MAF unplug test
Timing belt intact and tight
Lawnmower procedure ineffective
New Fuel injector relay (greenish relay at top left of fan shroud)

The thing that mystified it for me is the abrupt no start. If memory serves serves the only other abrupt no start cause is MAF (which failed me as I was driving along a busy street at 40mph. A new experience).

It would seem that everything else but fuel starvation would be a gradual thing maybe ...

Weird issues with starting. My daily wagon was running great then went to start it yesterday and it just turns over with no start up.. Sometimes when I try it’s like the starter disengages. If I return key to starting position, it cranks fine again with no start.

I noticed the used pump I bought on eBay is for AWD and I’m FWD. is it still usable?
Honestly, I’m about to white flag this one. Lol

I’ll have to get back to the mechanic and will post when and if available. Wiring looks ok and fuses are all good unless there is some sneaky relay hidden somewhere I don’t know about.

Finally found the mechanic code reader to look before the year 2000 and it determined I have a “fatal ABS pump failure.” Module is newly rebuilt. Anyone know of any spare DIY videos on how to do this pump job?
