2004 V70 2.4 baffiing canbus issue after "sleep" timeout
I gave my Mom my '04 V70 (base 2.4 automatic) after Hurricane Ian drowned her car. Hoped to get her by until the new car market is a tad less insane. Haha, Volvos do NOT like my mother... I get the dreaded phone call, again, "there is something wrong with the car". Go over to have a look, find that ...

Re: Old style separate key fob and key with '04 V70 question
To close the loop here - as expected, the new key fob was programmed to the car with no issues at all other than the damage done to my wallet. $361 when all was said and done and the governor's share paid. Ugh, but it's nice to have a none-broken fully functional key and remote. The old switchblade ...

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?
Last Friday, technically, but I replaced the front struts with the IPD pre-assembled Sachs units, replaced the swaybar links with their HD ones, and both axles with new GKNs. It's like a totally different car. Sooo smooth, and no more crashing and banging from the front on nasty roads. Took care of ...

Re: Old style separate key fob and key with '04 V70 question
Thanks Leapdragon, that is excellent information.
I've found enough postings on this subject on the various forums that I am VERY confident there is no problem doing it, and as I said, the parts guy (who has been at that dealer since dirt was new) says it will work. I just got the Service Advisor ...

Re: You guys are going to laugh at this one - backup camera
Looks to be the same camera I have, but I like my bracket setup better, the camera is centered on the car. Having it offset like that would drive me nuts.

Re: You guys are going to laugh at this one - backup camera
Get a regular wired camera that goes into a license plate light, power it from the reverse light and hide the wire under the carpets. I have one for like 7 years, works great and every time.
The camera is working perfectly, the wireless connection is a non-issue. It's already wired off the ...

You guys are going to laugh at this one - backup camera
So as mentioned in a post six months ago or so, I put an Android touchscreen head unit in my '04 V70. Used the CRUX canbus adapter to integrate it to the car, and it works GREAT. I didn't bother with a backup camera, because it's a V70 and you don't really need one. But one thing that drove me nuts ...

Old style separate key fob and key with '04 V70 question
Hi everyone,
I did a good bit of research on here and asked some questions months ago that assured me that instead of getting another crappy switchblade key for my V70 (original fell apart, Amazon replacement shell is crap too), that I could buy one of the old-style separate key fobs and use the ...

Re: 2021 Volvo
I would (and did) consider a very basic V60. I'd want Denim Blue on the cloth interior, with the cold weather package and H/K stereo. But the lack of a manual transmission is something of a deal killer at new car prices, and ultimately it doesn't seem $42K better than my V70. The modern conveniences ...

Re: 2004 V70 2.4 idle vibration in-gear
Did the subframe bushings today. Went smoothly, only took 1.5hrs to do them. Helped the in-gear idle vibration quite a bit. I have to think it's as good as it is going to get. Made a noticable difference in feel while driving too - sharp impacts are tamed quite a bit - we have tons of reflectors in ...
