One more update. I bought a used rear differential and AOC from a junkyard for $150. I'll steal the pump off and keep the rest around for spare parts. I'll also return the Dorman.

As an update, I ordered a Dorman pump from Amazon for $200. I later read that some people have had poor results with dorman pumps. This morning I put the cover back on the pump and tested it with leads and it still runs, so maybe I'll just reinstall it.

Just to update this, my wife took it to a Volvo specialist and had them 'reset something and update the software'. The issue has not returned. It was not a faulty cluster.
