Re: 850 glt (non turbo)93 Timing Belt
i think the dealership gets between 600 and 800 but that is because they are trying to change everything at the same time, the water pump, tensioner, idler pulley, etc. i have a 93 850 NT and a 94 850 T, i have done head gaskets on both. i had to use a Q-tip to clean off the crank pulley just to see...

93 850 NT not starting help!
These are my symptoms. Engine rotates over, has spark, has good fuel pressure. Will not fire. Crankshaft trigger was replaced about 2 years ago. Has good compression. Computer codes say intermittent crankshaft trigger signal, and MAF sensor signal absent or faulty. I wanted to check the Camshaft pos...

Re: 850 glt (non turbo)93 Timing Belt
i have lots of experience with this. if you can't seem to get the car to start yo will need to get the engine back to top dead center on the number one cylinder. the timing mark on the crank is very difficult to see, some have a cast mark right behind the crank pulley, my 93 850 has only the machine...

Light out in instrument cluster 93 850
Recently my light in my instrument cluster went out for the time/ ambient outside air temperature, does anyone have any idea how to replace this or where to start? I have never removed the instrument cluster and I am not sure where to start.

Re: 850 Turbo 1994 will not start
According to the volvo manual, the only sensor that can cause the problem of no spark is the RPM sensor, located just below the CPS and cap and rotor mounted on the bell housing. you can get them pretty cheap on ebay. I had a similar problem of no start with spark so i read and read everything i cou...

Re: A word regarding PCV overhaul...
There is no real vacuum in the oil pan. You have a lot of blow by pressure from the rings. Turbo or non Turbo volvos are notorious for high crankcase pressure. The reason for the canister is to try and catch some of the oil and pass only the pressure as well as a chance to burn any unspent fumes get...

Re: Losing Coolant - Head gasket? PCV?
You should track down your leaking coolant. If it is not a head gasket, over heating the motor just once can cause failure of your head gasket. I just bought a 850 that this happened to, the previous owner over heated more than once and 3 weeks after i bought it the head gasket blew, and warped the ...

Flame trap.....
I had this problem as well. Volvos have extremely high crank case pressure, which is compression getting past the rings in the cylinders. Volvo does not use a PCV system, they use a semi passive system with no valve to keep oil out of the intake. There is a canister on the front side of the engine t...
