Re: '99 S70 - ETM Replacement Troubleshooting

Thanks fellas for all the replies. Through a lot of Googling I was led to a possible bad engine management relay. Replaced that and started up. No fault codes this time but idles terribly. Going to try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. Maybe clean the MAF as well. EDIT: Throwing in the to...

Re: '99 S70 - ETM Replacement Troubleshooting

Faulty accelerator pedal? Have you tested to verify both pots in it are reading successfully? If that's fricked it won't matter what ETM you put on. Thanks for the reply. Sorry, I probably worded my post poorly. The codes I have, along with ETS light (NO CEL) are as follows: P1017 - ECM P1019 - no ...

Re: '99 S70 - ETM Replacement Troubleshooting

Almost certainly software issue as there were multiple software changes in the 20xx years Thanks much. I did purchase a XemodeX ETM from a eBay seller that had the same ‘99 NA S70. The ETM was just made in November 2024. Thought I might get lucky and have it work but no dice. Throws all the same fa...

Re: '99 S70 - ETM Replacement Troubleshooting

One other question: would finding a part number 8644346 circa 2001 (obviously not the best option due to age and functionality) be possible to plug and play? Or would there be a software issue due to the age? Thanks!

'99 S70 - ETM Replacement Troubleshooting

I have an ETS light on in my '99 S70 NA. Multiple codes (P1017, 1018, 1019, 1043...all seem to point to ETM). I am not really mechanically inclined but have learned a fair amount about these cars in the 6 years I have owned it. I was taking a look at my ETM and initially thought it was an original w...

Re: NOV 2015 FCP Euro carrying rebuilt MM ETB 36050563

April 2025 New link to the throttle body, now $535 https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo-throttle-body-c70-s70-v70-s60-s80-8644347#fitment Thanks, my ETM seems to have just failed on my ‘99 S70 NA. ETS light and stumbling/surging idle. XemodeX is currently out of stock unfortunately. This listing ...

Re: 1999 S70 Timing Belt Needed?

Old as hell thread but I was digging around as I just had my ‘99 S70’s timing belt, serp belt and all the associated components changed. I bought the car in ‘19 with 135k miles. Had receipt for TB at 108k…in 2010. Car was off the road from 2015 to 2019. She now has 183k. So almost 15 years since las...

Re: P0505 and engine stumbling - 1999 S70 base

Thanks again Neil. Yes I believe there was oil in cylinders 2/3. I did replace oil cap but did not check the hose going down to catch tank. Will do that.

Also I did do the glove test some time ago and no inflation. Although I did not rev the engine. Will revisit that. Thanks!

Re: P0505 and engine stumbling - 1999 S70 base

Thanks much. I realized I made a typo in my first post. I did change the plugs at 140k. When I pulled them off they were heavily fouled and oily. There was also oil in a couple of the spark plug wells and the coils were soaked in oil. Figured maybe a clogged PCV but I brought it to an independent sh...
