I have a 2005 V70 2.4 non turbo which needs new brake pads in front. There seem to be a lot of brands and technologies out there. I want best braking and quiet. I believe I will have to sacrifice longevity to get what I want.

Can anybody tell me my choices and where to get them?

I'm looking for a V70 with a budget limit of $7K and would like to stay under 100K miles. AWDE is prefered but not essential. This seems to come out well for 2001s but I've heard that was a bad year for reliability. Should I go older? Wait for a deal on a 2002?

If no, go with the 2003 V70 non turbo... I'm used to a fairly peppy Saab. Will it feel like I'm riding a turtle to drive the non Turbo? If you don't need an AWD... Is my assumption correct that FWD does a very decent job on New England roads in the winter? As good as my Saab 95 which does great? go ...
