What is this thing?

The picture is of the battery compartment looking down and back toward the firewall. The battery has been removed. This looks like a vacuum line, but there is nothing obvious for it to connect to. The line travels about 8 inches and disappears into the engine bay side wall (you can just see where it...

Re: 2011 XC70 cargo side-panel removal

Never mind. I gave up and used a Dremel to cut out a hole big enough to unbolt and remove the broken latch striker plate and replace it with a new one. Then I printed a replacement trim panel with my 3D printer. Looks great. More than one way to skin a cat.

2011 XC70 cargo side-panel removal

I have looked everywhere I can think of and cannot find any guidance on removing the passenger side cargo area panel. Can anyone point me to some instructions? I need to replace the latch mount that holds the rear seat back in place and I have to get the panel off to do that. Thanks.

I'm stumped. What is the object detection system called?

I have purchased a 2011 XC70 and it beeps at me whenever I get near any object. It's really getting annoying. For example, it beeps every time I am backing out of my driveway to tell me there is a mailbox there! Oddly, it beeps when the front of the car gets next to the mailbox. It also beeps when I...

Re: Does this cheap XC90 look OK to you?

Thanks! That actually doesn't look too bad, especially if the leak is in the front cover. Just time consuming. At least it's on top of the car and not under it! I do have the skill and tools to do this. I normally wouldn't buy a car needing this much repair, but with being stuck at home because of t...

Re: The great P80 Volvo Bloopers - Idiots - Fails thread - April 2020

Spent a week on my back taking out the AWD unit in a 2000 V70XC because of the infamous whine. Got everything back together and it still had the whine. It was the axle. Removing the axle was Step 1 of the operation.

Re: 98' V70 XC AWD CV Axle Assembly!

Your are a better man than me instarx. Axles are a pretty easy, but the time and parts I have to remove to get to it are what spur me to go with rebuilt O/E. I don't remember exactly what brand aftermarket I bought that went south on me in less than a year. If aftermarket works for you, then stick ...
