What is this thing?

Post by instarx »

The picture is of the battery compartment looking down and back toward the firewall. The battery has been removed. This looks like a vacuum line, but there is nothing obvious for it to connect to. The line travels about 8 inches and disappears into the engine bay side wall (you can just see where it does). There are no error codes. I bought the car about six months ago and it was like this when I got it I guess.

The clamp a few inches back is just that - a clamp. There is no connection there to anything. Excuse all the pollen, it's Springtime in the South!

Thanks, Chuck

That is a vent tube from the battery case, to keep acidic fumes from corroding your paint and battery tray. It should dump out the bottom of the car somewhere.

BTW, I really enjoy your mysterious avatar gato.

(I also have an Alfa Romeo - 1967) cheers
