Re: Help! How to clear “reduced engine performance” limp mode
There is no engine light, and no codes. Belt is fine. A/C pulley spins great. There are no codes present on the computer at all. I ONLY NEED TO KNOW HOW TO CLEAR LIMP MODE! Does anyone with real experience in a Volvo dealership have insight with this situation? Please help! Please read the entire t...

Re: Help! How to clear “reduced engine performance” limp mode
Thanks for the reply. The actual a/c pump seized up. The clutch friction burned up because of the non-turning pump shaft and the clutch face rubbing against it. The magnet is fine, and there are no blown fuses that I can see. I do not have vida. Are you suggesting that vida is necessary to clear the...

Help! How to clear “reduced engine performance” limp mode
2006 XC70 a/c pump froze up and melted the a/c clutch. “Reduced engine performance” message and limp mode activated. I pulled over to the side of the road and saw the smoking a/c clutch under the hood. Turned off the a/c and engine runs fine. Got home at 20mph, now it’s stuck in limp mode. I disconn...

Re: low voltage at purge valve. ‘04 XC70 Help from experienced owners!
Right. So I am definitely getting a code on this. Currently looking into another ecm lined up in case I ruin this one. I’m going to do some careful (grounded) checking of the circuits and see if there is a fault in the resistor. Uncharted waters for me, but worth it to keep the car running! I will k...

Re: low voltage at purge valve. ‘04 XC70 Help from experienced owners!
So I opened up my ecm today and couldn’t find anything blue. I figure that that must have changed the board for 2004. I also did a little more testing, and found that I get 12v from one pin of the evap purge valve and 4v from the other. This makes 8v between them. So apparently, there is 4v feedback...

Ok, thanks. When my ecm removal tool arrives, I will test it and post my findings. Thanks again!

Re: low voltage at purge valve. ‘04 XC70 Help from experienced owners!
“ and found that a small blue capacitor on the ECM board for this EVAP solenoid valve line was resistive (to ground) and causing the problem. I cut out this small capacitor, which is a type of signal noise filter cap and I haven't had any problems since.” I’d like to see a picture of this capacitor ...
