Re: '94 940 shift interlock disconnect
Tried fiddling a good bit today to get the shifter out of park without success. Was raining today so I decided to jack up the rear wheels and lower the drive axle on the tow dolly to tow it backwards. Towed OK but it's definitely something I would not do for any distance or at speed. Will now attemp...

Re: '94 940 shift interlock disconnect
Thanks. I'll try that if necessary. After getting some of the plastic console cover off, it appears that the shift interlock is accomplished by an electrical solenoid rather than a physical cable connected to the ignition switch as on the P2s that I'm familiar with. I also found the following on ano...

'94 940 shift interlock disconnect
Hi all, Is there any known trick to get a disabled 940 out of park so I can get the car on a tow dolly. The ignition keys have been lost and I am trying to help out a neighbor's daughter who is cleaning up the vehicles her father left after his recent death. I own and am familiar with P2 Volvos and ...

Re: Brake swap from XC90 to V70
Neil, All my P2s have 285 mm front rotors, not sure about the rear. The XC90s are said to have 316 mm fronts and 308 mm rear. A number of posts claim significantly better braking with nothing other than rotor, caliper, and bracket swap. They are said to fit virtually all 16" wheels and all 17s....

Brake swap from XC90 to V70
I recall reading here and elsewhere that larger brake rotors from an XC90 installed on a V70 will be a significant improvement. If I understand correctly, what I would need from the XC90 are: Front; caliper, bracket, rotor, and pads. Rear; caliper, rotor, pads and backplate. Also maybe new hoses for...

Re: Source for gasket between halves of thermostat housing?
Scot850, You make a good point and I seriously considered it. Two reasons that I chose not to; the original had a metal core with a layer of "sealant" applied to both sides. Certainly an extra complication and expense that would not have been undertaken if a typical paper gasket were consi...

Re: Source for gasket between halves of thermostat housing?
Thanks to all who replied. Several helpful comments. Jonesg, yes, that's the one and thanks for the offer of your used metal gasket core. Mine is in slightly better shape so I'll proceed using it and some high temp RTV. I'd be happy to be proven wrong, but two suppliers have told me that this gasket...

Source for gasket between halves of thermostat housing?
Subject line says it all. FCPEuro and IPD inform that this gasket is not available separately. Any one know a source? My searching has been fruitless. For an 02 V70 2.4T. Mine has been leaking for a while and just became so bad I cannot ignore it. I removed both halves from the car and it is definit...

Re: '04 V70 2.4NA - Any issues with swapping catalytic section with '05 2.4 NA?
I wrote the OP before lifting both cars and carefully checking things over. It turns out the upstream O2 sensor is in the exh manifold so it stays with the car. And the downstream sensor is in the same location on both cars so I'll just replace the piping and keep both original sensors in the car, T...

'04 V70 2.4NA - Any issues with swapping catalytic section with '05 2.4 NA?
I presume no issues with physical fitment but will verify before beginning work. But what about potential oxygen sensor issues? I gather that these cars are so specifically programmed that I'd like to confirm no sensor compatibility issues beforehand. Presumably, I can swap O2 sensors into donated c...
