Re: 1999 V70-XC vibration in steering wheel at idle

Volvo tranny torque mount and Chinese-crap-but-in-stock passenger side mount. I should have mentioned these were replaced 3k ago during routine maintenance. This problem has surfaced in the past 1000 miles. FYI the cheapo Chinese mount does look rock solid while the upper mount exhibits it's 2 inche...

Re: 1999 V70-XC vibration in steering wheel at idle

I've replaced the passenger side engine mount (behind the wheel)and the transmission torque mount link on the driver side. Can you tell much by a visual inspection or is dis-assembly required?

1999 V70-XC vibration in steering wheel at idle

I have a "what's wrong?" type of vibration in steering wheel at idle and while driving at low speeds. Watching from above as wife shifts between Drive/Reverse repeatedly there is about 2 inches of forward and backward play at the top motor mount. Upon inspection the rubber insert appears i...

Re: Oil Leak from center of VVT exhaust cam pulley. O-ring?

Stop That chamber is supposed to be filled with oil. If you took out the chamber plug and it was leaking from there then you are fine. If you close it and the leak stops you are fine. The VVT valve (on top) regulates the flow to that chamber and the oil is used to push the VVT to put the cam where ...

Re: Oil Leak from center of VVT exhaust cam pulley. O-ring?

I'll probably have to do that. Any idea what the o-rings are made of to withstand the heat and oil? I'm figuring plain old black rubber won't cut it. Also assuming I will need to invest in a cam lock tool before removing the pulley or is it keyed? Is marking the pulley position on the shaft accurate...

Oil Leak from center of VVT exhaust cam pulley. O-ring?

1999 V70 XC 265k - Decided to do a complete timing belt job with all seals etc since I knew there was evidence of an oil leak behind the TB cover. Once I got everything off there is no leak from the intake cam seal or the crank seal but there is lots of oil coming from the middle of the exhaust cam ...

Re: Slight Antifreeze Smell

Your heater core is actually quite easy to get to compared to other cars. The heater core is at the bottom of your center dash console. Remove the kick panels on each side of your console and it will be in full view. You will probably see some staining and deposits (or antifreeze!) that will confirm...

999 V70 XC

Is there a trick to reading/entering those stinking cats? I am on attempt #10!

They tell you to enter "letters" but sometimes I see what is either a "9" or a "g".

Now I know why I prefer dogs!

99 v70 XC - steering wheel wobbles on column

OK - I just added this newest member to the stable yesterday. Noticed the SRS light was on before I bought it but NOW I notice the steering wheel wobbles as though it is not securely tightend down to the steering column. Hmmmmm....... How do I tear get into the wheel mount stuff without eating the a...
