Jsyk, cheap 850 grilles from Rockauto

Just a helpful heads up and apologies if this has been around and I just haven't noticed but I just received and installed a new grille from Rock Auto and it's a perfectly decent and nice feeling quality. The cool part? They're only $17! Normally I've learned and don't touch 850 parts from Rock Auto...

Re: 1997-850- Trans Valve Body Cover Seal?

Update, mostly good but could have done better. I got it all back together and have driven over 500 miles since with no real shifting issues and no more arrow. There is an occasional delayed/sluggish shift in 1st to 2nd but I don't think the average driver would pick it up if not tuned in, it's pret...

Re: 3D Printed Tape Player Repair

Do you plan to publish the gear model? It might be useful for other people as well. I personally like Printables ( https://www.printables.com ) and have published my models there. https://www.printables.com/model/980593-volvo-850-sc-710-radio-gears Here's a link, I've stayed away from posting most ...

Re: 3D Printed Tape Player Repair

I’m just happy to be around at the same time as 3d printing, it makes small things like this so fun, and my wagon benefits greatly!

3D Printed Tape Player Repair

Thought you guys might enjoy my tape player repair. The entire time I’ve owned the car, when you would insert a tape, it would just continually try to flip the tape without being able to play it. After a tear down, I realized the band was snapped, and two gears broken, one new band and 2 printed gea...

Re: 1997-850- Trans Valve Body Cover Seal?

I'll try around 18ft lbs with new gasket as a middle of the road going off Jmartin's experience and see how it feels, I'd assume adding the gasket would require added torque unless someone can correct me on that. I removed the Trans torque mount bolts and front engine mount top nut, but didn't remov...

Re: 1997-850- Trans Valve Body Cover Seal?

I did this job recently and used sealant on both sides of the gasket (Duraprene) but don't know if that was really necessary. I also replaced the torx bolts with hex head. I torqued to about 10-15 ft-lbs and later realized that wasn't enough and had to retorque due to leaking at the bottom edge. I ...

Re: 1997-850- Trans Valve Body Cover Seal?

Thank you both for the replies, I had mostly resigned to redoing it and already have ordered another gasket, was just hoping by some miracle to be told otherwise. I’ve done quite a bit to this car over time but don’t have much experience with setting gaskets, could anyone confirm if my method of sea...

1997-850- Trans Valve Body Cover Seal?

Hi all, first post here. Yesterday I did a trans #2 shift solenoid swap on my n/a 850's aw50-42 after dealing with it throwing code AT-222 for the last year and a half. While I think everything went well for the most part, It was a 8hr project going slow n steady just to clear things out of the way,...
