Re: 2000 V70XC dead? Very rough Idle today
I towed it to a well known Volvo shop here. They said fuel pump or injectors are bad, and asked $1700 for fixing it. Well they seem to know I am going to junk it, and offer to take it for 0 and cover the diagnosis cost. Maybe it is just fine to let it go. They don't allow me to tow it to another ...

Re: 2000 V70XC dead? Very rough Idle today
It’s no different time to diagnose than to fix. It’s actually harder to diagnose. Find some Volvo people nearby for help
Yes, I am fine towing it to a shop and paying $120 per hour to get the help. But it could be actually bigger and more costly problem. And the car is not very useful to me. I ...

But this help of diagnosis is too precious to get. Sad for old cars. Even I pay the the shop for it, they would think it not worthwhile to work on.abscate wrote: 05 Oct 2025, 16:31 Your probably throwing away a car over a $5 hose plus some help needed to find it.

Re: 2000 V70XC dead? Very rough Idle today
I put new hoses on, no luck. The old hose cracked splitted open. It is not like broken overnight. Somewhere else could be crack open. I guess time to junk it. It maybe costs hundreds to repair and still can't sell it after fixed. Good bye, every old car has an end.

Re: 2000 V70XC dead? Very rough Idle today
Thank you folks. I am not confident on working on cars now. Looking for a shop to do it but everyone asks $200 for diagnosis first. Maybe I will try give it away for free.

Re: 2000 V70XC dead? Very rough Idle today
Thanks for confirming. The right end is on a T joint and all three hoses should be replaced I guess. Is it one part number for all the pieces? The joint looks like glued on permanently, no clamps on it.

Re: 2000 V70XC dead? Very rough Idle today
There is a hose under the manifold, cracked to half open. I see it is attached to air pipe after MAF. Is it the problem? See the red marks on both ends of the hose.
But it could have been like that for long time.

Re: 2000 V70XC dead? Very rough Idle today
MAF disconnected and it is slightly worse, not much difference. Engine has been fine in past years. Only regular syn oil change.
Spark plugs are replaced 30k miles ago. I believe it could be oil soaked but should not be so much difference overnight.
Maybe vacuum leak. I got small EVAP leak code ...

2000 V70XC dead? Very rough Idle today
It drove fine yesterday. But today idle is very rough, jumping between 500 and 1000rpm. Push full gas and it only gets to 3000rpm. Engine shakes at 1000rpm.
Tried disconnect each ignition coil. Each time it bings down the top RPM to 2000. So all cylinders are still working?
Did big leak happen ...
