Maybe this will help others like me... so this is the result.. put on new rotors and it is just fine.. on this model and I am sure others the rotors seem to wear right along with the pads.. mine were worn so that the new discs did not seat flat causing a soft pedal and less efficient braking. I read...

OK guys.. took the volvo a local shop this morning to put on front pads..kept the rotors.. when I picked up the car the pedal was soft.. it stops but very soft compared to before the change. Pumping seems to help a bit especially when the engine is off. I found one general brake response that the ab...

Thanks.. I went to a shop tonight to have them give the brakes a look.. they said there is about 2mm left and they want to turn the rotors because of the ridge. The meat of the rotor is about 24mm..

05 XC70 brakes

I worked on Volvos back in the early 70s. Finally I have one for myself. I was told that my brakes needed to be replaced front and rear. Is this a routine process to change or are special tools or expertise needed to change the pads?
