Re: Setting S80 VVT
All this process and procedure seems to be for those who have removed the cams and/or the cam gears as well. Do all these operations have to be done any time the belt is removed? The cams in question are on a 2000 Turbo S80. I watched the exhaust hub and sprocket turn CCW one and a half teeth when I...

Re: DSTC won't disengage
Thanks jimmy57, thought I'd stumbled on to the elusive "quick fix" . crud.
I did check Erie Volvo. No DSTC switches in sight. They seem to be a rare bird. Just for grins, I'll check the dealer for availability, and cost.

Re: DSTC won't disengage
Ah, the fun never stops. I noticed that the DSTC switch was not in the same location as a couple illustrations placed it. It usually resides in the farthest left position in that array of switches. It is currently third from the left. Perhaps the problem is as simple as, the mechanic that worked on ...

Re: Timing belt, exhaust cam jumped
JimBee, forgot to mention, I did have the foresight to highlight the timing marks on the cams. That was the blur I saw when the belt popped off. Duh. I've had cams move when the lobes are just so, but in those cases, there was no vct issue AND the cams were visible. The other timing marks were and s...

Re: Timing belt, exhaust cam jumped
Thanks for the quick reply JimBee. Did your 850 have variable cam timing? This beast does. I'm not certain that the sprocket jumping back was the cam rolling off a lobe. (been there, done that) If it is just that, then your advice is precisely what I need to do. If it is the variable timing thing, a...

Timing belt, exhaust cam jumped
I hope I haven't just doomed this project to another two weeks of waiting for parts. I was on the road to reassembly, that is all the parts are her, and the timing belt was to be the first (and deepest) project to complete. I followed the VADIS procedure where you rotate the crank 90 degrees past th...

C-70 Cnvrtbl ends production
Anyone privvy to the reason why Volvo has ceased production on the C-70 Convertible? I was unpleasantly suprised to receive a fax from the salesman who took my deposit for a new C-70 to be delivered in March (Euro delivery). We will still get a convertible, just not the color we had ordered. There a...
