C-70 Cnvrtbl ends production

Post by Dirtbag »

Anyone privvy to the reason why Volvo has ceased production on the C-70 Convertible? I was unpleasantly suprised to receive a fax from the salesman who took my deposit for a new C-70 to be delivered in March (Euro delivery). We will still get a convertible, just not the color we had ordered. There are a few incentives to take the sting out of this news, but I still wonder why this has happened. Any thoughts out there?

Volvo is switching to the new C70, which is based on the new platform. It should be S60 sized, similar to the Saab 9-3, its main competition.

The top is supposed to be a metal retractible top for safety and security. Since there won't be a need for a coupe, the convertible and coupe will be one in the same, which should allow for a better closed top design, since the current C70 coupe had a better roofline than the convertible.
