Re: 92 944 Insufficient Heat
Not only are the vent doors vacuum operated, so is the water valve to the heater core. If you had a leak in the vacuum source lines to the heater controls, you would experience NO hot water flow to the heater core AND vents that don't select. When this happened to my 740, I found the vacuum reservoi...

Re: revving idle
I did have a difficult time getting the timing down and am wondering this is a symptom of the timing being slightly off. Could you be a little more specific and descriptive of what you mean by this statement? If, by chance, this means that you had to retard the distributor to it's full limit to get...

Re: Lawnmower Syndrome Volvo 960
Sounds like you have a valve or two that may not be properly seating during the starting process. They can get slightly stuck if they have sat partially open for a while. As long as the engine starts and runs well once started, you have little to worry about. Just get out there and drive it more oft...

Re: my 97 960 sw didn't throw a code .still won't start
It still won't start but I think I narrowed down the problem to fuel delivery problem ....there are no fuel at the fuel rail pressure release valve...I'm going to test the in-tank fuel pump./and other fuel pump...I know the fuel pump relay is good because i used a different, good relay still no pump...

Re: 87 240 B230F power loss glowing red manifold
My guess is a restricted catalytic converter...When the matrix breaks up the pieces move around and clog the outlet, backing pressure up into the exhaust manifold...If you rap on the converter with your fist and hear rattling inside, the converter is gone... Thank you Jerry. Well, that's another is...

Re: Timing belt Volvo 740 200k miles.
kmaniac - I'm not really sure what you mean by "How did you index the crankshaft prior to timing belt installation?" I looked up the diagram and instructions for the timing on this vehicle and 'it' seemed pretty straight forward with the marks and all. If you think i missed something mayb...

Re: Timing belt Volvo 740 200k miles.
Before you go any further with this, please answer my question. How did you index the crankshaft prior to timing belt installation? I agree with Jerry that auxiliary shaft timing is not critical with the camshaft driven distributor. The camshaft sprocket timing marks are clear and difficult to miss....

Re: hard start in cold weather
Just to be clear, there are TWO engine coolant sensors, one to run the temperature gauge (obvious) and one to tell the engine computer that the engine is COLD (not so obvious). The second of these two sensors is the one to look at here. When working correctly, this sensor tells the engine computer w...

Re: Where do I get an auto trans indicator bulb?
The black socket is reusable and the bulb is replacable and pulls out of the socket. Go to any auto parts store and look through their new bulbs to find the replacement size.
