Yeah i noticed from your picture that you removed both manifolds. Mine has studs too but they all came out nicely. It was kindoff tricky keeping the 5 new exhaust seals in place while putting the head back on without the studs. I used new head bolts, and replaced every gasket, seal and o-ring i came...

#2 cilinder is a lot cleaner than the rest of them but indeed not as clean as you would expect it too be, the only explanation i've got is that its a very small leak indeed. I didn't take any pictures of the inside of the head but #2 was a lot cleaner than the rest, more so than the other cilinders....

I finally got around to taking the head off and it turns out it was the head gasket after all. From the looks of it it was leaking from the tiny little waterchannels that run inbetween the cilinders. It wasn't nearly as bad too do as i had feared, it took about 8 hours of work in total. kindoff a we...

Ok starting over :) a1: The car does not seem to be overheating, no idiot light a2: Coolant temp gauge is always at 3 O'clock when at operating temp. a3: There is no oil in the coolant or visa versa. Oil looks perfectly clean like it always does, the last oil change was about 4000miles ago. No mayon...

Thank you for you insight Stoutlogic. I'm sure there is too much pressure on the system, for a few weeks i lost some coolant after shutting of the engine but i though it was a bad expansion cap so just topped it up every now and then. But i was cruising on the highway at a steady 80mph for about an ...

I dont like additives even though they might work in this case, but it wil just pospone the problem. A compression test wont really tell me much apart from a slight variation in the cilinders wich i'm sure it will have, the engine has about 300000km's under its belt so a little wear and tear will be...

Well i did the co test with a tool from Midlock, pretty sturdy thing bytheway and works like a charm, i can recommend it. Anyway it came out negative, no CO in the coolant :? I flushed out the coolant and replaced it but still no go. I geuss its waterpump time tommorow and if that doesn't help i'm t...

I took out the thermostat to see if it was faulty, perhaps not opening enough but it made no difference in max temperature. i'm pretty sure its the headgasket, i had a look at the sparks and #2 is burning a lot hotter than the rest... damn... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v113/bramdaman/v70kapot...

Thanks for the reply, that is what i thought at first but the hoses aren't supposed to get this hard, i'm suprised the cap will hold that much pressure. Also i'm worried about the heater core and the radiator bursting

Coolant pressure to high

Hi all i've got a pretty big problem with my '98 v70 turbo, its got too much pressure on the cooling system, the hoses get rock hard after it heats up and when its hot or after shutting it off coolant squirts out the filler cap. There is no oil in coolant or visa versa, its starts and runs perfectly...
