Re: boilover
Not discounting the head gasket theory, and some of those symptoms sound familiar.have yet to find the combustion gas test for less than forty bucks. Still am wondering why with two different caps this has never vented trough the cap. Will continue quest for a replacement bottle and the combustion p...

Re: boilover
Thank You for the help. Got car back home safely. On inspection, it looked, at first, that the hose was leaking at the nipple/bottle joint, but it was a crack in the joint itself.Had one application of plasticweld epoxy last 4 hrs then blow out. removed unbonded epoxy with knife. running now on seco...

Need help with the aftermath of an experiment of the "indestructability" of the in-line 5. Cooling system had been trouble free for the 3 years since installing a junk yard radiator (cracked tank). a few months back did a heater hose bypass of the heater core after it had been decorating t...

Re: Engine break up
Thanks again for the assist. The circuit 15 problem was the drivers side light bulb in the lighting cluster up at the rearview mirror. the only thing that holds the bulb laterally is a straight track for the bayonette nib in the ground contact. The bulb was in too far and in sideways so that it thro...

Re: 96 850 interior light problem
Took some time but the quest is over. The drivers side light bulb in the cluster surrounding the rear view mirror had been inserted too far causing the metal case of the bulb to short circuit between the positive and negative contacts. I have experienced a number of light fixtures from Cibie and Bos...

Re: Engine break up
That was it! I have never used a gauge on it but thank you Volvo Engineers for that shraeder valve!
Thank You for your help Jblackburn. Would it be safe to run on the "paperclip"(2 spade lugs with a soldered wire). Do some not put a switch leg across these points for an anti theft device?

Re: Engine break up
will police up terminal crud and check for heat. Would you have a location and ballpark resistance for the temp sensor?
Both sound like plausable theories, will report back.

Re: Engine break up
If rocker is neutral, no.As soon as rocker goes to the light position, or door opens or glovebox opens it blows in spectacular fashion, Once the fuse has blown any action that should give you interior lights, gives you instead, the "you left your keys in the ignition bell". would love to c...
