Re: S60 2002 A/C Magnetic Clutch Fix (instead of 'bread clip fix')

I struggled before with the zip-tie fix... could never get them to fit from the top or they kept flying out, so this fix was way easier... 10 mins tops! Whereas it takes me 15 mins just to get my jack+jackstands setup in the driveway, so if I was trying to go via wheel liner would have been a much l...

Re: 2002 S60 DIM Repair Hints & Replacement Bulbs

Update here, as had another failure on my DIM where it was going totally dead. I had to reflow all the connections around CPU1. The process that worked for me was: Remove that blue crap using flux remover and/or 99% rubbing alcohol on a q-tip. Get it nice and clean. Put flux around the area (I used ...

Ha... the 100% humidity days have been the worst for it lately. But I lived 3 years without it as there's normally only about a week you really need it.

On the plus side I'm not too worried if it burns out. So far so good though - no sign of it cutting out!

Re: Steering Rack woes

Might be too late, but it is possible to replace the hard lines in-place. See https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... hp?t=63143 .

S60 2002 A/C Magnetic Clutch Fix (instead of 'bread clip fix')

My A/C has been dead for a while, and it was clearly the gap problem. I don't use the A/C enough to "properly" fix it, and never had luck getting the breadclip fixes to last very long. I couldn't get zip-ties in as was too lazy to pull back the inner wheel well too. I finally tried another...

Re: 2002 V70 The car has a strong gas smell,

The gas smell... probably connected to fuel pump recall, see http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/probl ... mmary=true . That link starts talking about XC90 but mentions the rest of the P2 models later on.

Re: 2007 V70 What Funnel for Oil

I just have a smallish funnel that I hole upright while pouring, and that way can monitor backflow to avoid overfill as it goes through the grate. I'm sure there is one that fits better, but it's such a minor hassle that it's not worth going to any effort to fix (IMO).

For the initial gap: it should be 0.012" to 0.024", source: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=S60+AC+clutch+gap which links to https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... =9&t=42234 which shows you where to measure as well.

Re: 2002 S60 Base - A/C won't cool for long

Move more Northern, and A/C isn't as big a deal ;-) In all seriousness - it sounds a lot like the worn clutch issue. Basically there is an electromagnetic clutch that turns the AC compressor on. There is some clearance here, and as it wears it requires more strength to pull the clutch in. When you t...

Re: 2005 XC70 Broken Drivers Side Coil Spring

I would *highly* agree w/ JRL regarding the suspension part refresh. I did this last year on a similar mileage car and made a huge difference, even though nothing felt too bad beforehand. You just get used to it I guess as your car slowly degrades ;-) In your case - it's no more work (possibly less)...
