Good news, got another new/used pump and the car started on first time, Yipee! One quick question: the pump that works, the rubber line has a kink, should I try to straighten that out before putting everything back together. It started up with no problem.

What is the best way(hook-up) to bench test the fuel pump, I ve bench tested starters before, but never a fuel pump, and the presence of gas has me a bit worried. I ve got a normal small battery charger. Better be safe then sorry(burned).

I don't hear anything coming from the pump. After a few tries to start, the battery dies. I am trickle charging battery tonight. Am I missing something simple? Running out of ideas.

The humming noise is coming from the throttle body area and lasts for about 15 seconds and then there is a 'click'.

Thanks Lee, I will try that test in the morning after putting the fuel pressure regulator back together, should I put the new regulator in or save my money? The regulator seemed like nothing was wrong, the rubber gasket showed no sign of distress. I pulled codes again and the same one came up, P1072...
