Re: 1993 Volvo 940 Blown Heater Core

Hey Bill, Thank you for the info. But the Volvo I had took a lot more work. I wish I had taken a lot of pictures. I don't have any overviews. The Heater core Inlet and outlet went through the firewall, but the Removal had to come from the interior. No access panel, had to disassemble the duct work. ...

1993 Volvo 940 Blown Heater Core

I have a 1993 Volvo 940 with a blown heater core. No access from the engine compartment. Have to replace through the dash.

Does anyone have any suggestions, hints, or directions they could post for me?

Thanks for the help.

That is true, and I don't think he can even change a tire.

Thank you for your help.

Re: 940 turbo, 1993, sluggish and fuel rich (gray smoke)

Found it. The problem was simpler than I expected. Decided to replace all vacuum hoses..just because. My daughters boyfriend walks up and asks me if there was suppose to be a hole in the air hose????? So, the rubber connection for the intake hose from the turbocharger has a 1 inch hole. Running rich...

Re: 940 turbo, 1993, sluggish and fuel rich (gray smoke)

Have checked the fuel pressure, plugged the vacuum leak in the turbo bypass valve, replace the O2 sensor. The catalitic converter is not plugged. Went ahead and replace the sparkplug wire / plugs / distributor and rotor (needed a tuneup anyway). All 4 of the injectors are clicking like they should. ...

Re: 940 turbo, 1993, sluggish and fuel rich (gray smoke)

Thanks, I will check the fuel pressure first. I also meant to ask when I was doing the vacuum check the turbo bypass valve did not hold pressure, is it suppose to hold vacuum? It sure looks like it should. The fuel pressure regulator did hold pressure, I have to check the fuel system pressure next. ...

Re: 940 turbo, 1993, sluggish and fuel rich (gray smoke)

Thanks, I am going to get it right now.

I took it to Firestone and it made them scratch their head. Could not hook it up to diagnose it. Told me it was acting like a Catalitic Converter. Does that make any sense?

Re: 940 turbo, 1993, sluggish and fuel rich (gray smoke)

Thank you, Two more questions: 1) On the fuel tube to the injectors, there is a threaded port, can I use that to attach the fuel gage? 2) Someone at work suggested I check the probe point 6 of the readout, I got a code: 2-1-4 (RPM signal absent intermittently - Could this cause the issue? 3) I then ...
